It all took a start.........
in August 1996, finally Flemming took the decision to try his life under totally new circumstances. Not unexpected was the destination the Philippines, where for the past 6 years he had spent 1 – 3 month in vacation each year. The first 2,5 years was mainly spent in Cebu City, where his time was spend with founding and making recherché for *Sampaguita Journey Philippines, and besides answering mail there was many nice trips around Cebu Island and the surroundings islands. That period later shoved up to be the founding for his destiny, it ended up in falling in love 2 times at almost the same time, the first was his fiancé Eden and short time later St. Bernard Beach Resort in Sta. Fe on Bantayan Island! Firstly there was a 6-month stay at St.Bernard. The whish to stay permanent was big, but as a permanent place for living, the cottage was to small to house the family and at the same time be home base for Sampaguita Journey Philippines. The result was a bigger house at the other side of Sta.Fe. The longing for St.Bernard was though still big: often the trip passed by the place to say hello to friends but mostly just to spend a hour or two at the beachfront enjoying the breeze from the sea. There had never been any plans or desire to work in the branch of Hotel / management and restaurant. Repeated requests from the former owner of St. Bernard to sell, and a fair offer in January 2000 made the decision and St. Bernard Beach Resort was handed over on January 17, Two month of hard rebuilding and renovation was to look forward to before a small opening and the first gust could be wished welcome could be held ion March 5.
